Grant Handgis

Photography

I am a retired commercial photographer, having lived in Tucson for twenty-five years. My retirement years have allowed me to return to my love of fine art photographic print making once again. The mediums I primarily work with are Palladium printing and Gum Dichromate printing. Both of these processes were invented in the mid 19th century. Palladium prints have an expected archival life of 500 years. Gum prints are expected to last 1000 years, and is the oldest photographic process still used today. Gum prints are made up of many layers of colors suspended in gum Arabic solution, printed one layer at a time. This process takes from two weeks, to six weeks to make one print. Each gum print I make is unique. No copies, no artist's proof. All my prints are hand coated, and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
