Irene Klar 

Irene has used color, textiles, pattern and people as her inspiration for over 40 years. Her paintings, watercolors and original prints (etchings and silkscreens) are represented in galleries across the US and Canada and have been exhibited internationally. 

Irene is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Alberta. Her work is in numerous public and corporate collections and has been used for fundraising by a variety of organizations such as Amnesty International and USC. Her etchings are the focus of the book “Common Threads: the etchings of Irene Klar”. Her illustrations appear in “Nine Minutes” published in Korea and on several book covers. 

Three Irene Klar etchings were awarded the Jurors’ Prize in the NightVisions Exhibition, Coconino Center for the Arts, Flagstaff, AZ. Show ran May 27 - Aug 26, 2022.


One Irene’s etchings was selected to be  included in the Southern Printmaking Biennale 2023 at the University of  Northern Georgia. In 2024, the linocut, Red Slipper, was selected for a Printmaking Show at the Five Point Gallery in  Torrington, CT and by MVA Gallery in Bethlehem, PA for the Essence of a Woman Exhibition.
