John Grant - Photography
I will photograph anything in natural light which is abundant here in beautiful southern Arizona.
I’ve always had a knack for taking decent pictures but never took it seriously until a photographer friend suggested that I get a “real” camera about seven years ago and since then I’ve been enjoying thoroughly. I learned about using camera gear and postproduction.
I started photographing wildlife, which is the most exciting, and then expanded into landscapes, architecture, domestic animals, people and events. I spend lots of time in the field searching for a great opportunity. I try to set up the shot from the start in terms of composition and background. Next, I select which is the most dynamic or interesting from a series of shots. In editing afterwards, I use digital versions of traditional photo editing tools managing the light, contrast, crop and so forth to compliment the original raw photo. I do so it looks good enlarged and worthy of someone mounting on a wall for décor or as a conversation piece. No AI images are used.
I like color, character and movement. Most of my work in the gallery is lightweight metal with float mounts ready to hang but I can easily set up other mediums.
