Theresa Poalucci
Living in the high desert brings me endless joy. The sunlight, vivid colors, unique plant life, and diverse wildlife tap into fundamental aspects of the human experience and our connection to nature. I also appreciate Tucson, with its cultural diversity this place deepens my appreciation for where I live and work
Recently my art has centered around combining my desert environment with my fascination for the future, especially the evolving technological world. In my process to create I blend nature’s wonder with digital tools — “painting with pixels” to capture and enhance my vision.
My digital art process begins with crafting a composition, using my computer screen as a canvas. I combine photos from my smartphone and may scan hand-drawn or painted elements into the piece as well. The result is an original artwork, a unique expression of a moment in time. After creating the foundation, I add finishing touches with pixel-based painting and experiment with art filters. Finally, I refine the colors to complete the composition. This is when the piece “speaks” to me, and I know it’s ready. The final file is sent to a professional printer, who prints my art on acrylic, although customers can opt for metal or canvas as alternative surfaces.
Each piece is a journey of discovery, with its own emotions and energy. My goal is to capture a single, clear moment that allows viewers to escape daily stresses and connect with the beauty of that instant. Through my art, I hope to offer a small, peaceful retreat into the natural world’s timeless wonder.
