"Color of Winter" New Show Reception

  • Desert Artisans Gallery 6536 East Tanque Verde Road Tucson, AZ, 85715 United States (map)

Winter in Tucson doesn’t arrive in shades of gray—it comes in quiet desert golds, sage greens, cool purples, long shadows, and soft, luminous skies. Color of Winter invites artists to interpret the season as it unfolds in the Southwest: crisp mornings, rosy mountain light, brittle cholla spines catching the sun, migrating birds, ripening citrus, subtle blooms, and the serene hush of the desert after rain.

This exhibition will showcase the unexpected palette of a Sonoran winter—cool turquoise skies, pale peach sunsets, silvery ocotillo, the blue-violet folds of the Catalina Mountains, and the warm glow of adobe against chilled air. From delicate botanical studies to vibrant landscapes, wildlife, ceramics, glass, fiber, and mixed media, each artist brings a fresh interpretation of winter’s beauty in our region.

Patrons will discover a season expressed through color, texture, and mood—an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience the quiet brilliance of winter in the desert.

Whether you love the softness of watercolor, the depth of oil, the sparkle of glass, or the warmth of handcrafted jewelry and ceramics, Color of Winter will offer work that feels peaceful, elegant, and distinctly Southwestern.
