David Thekan – Oil Painting

I have always been interested in art. As a child I remember going to my grandfather’s art studio and admiring his paintings. I went to Layton Art School at a young age in Milwaukee, WI, at the urging of my parents and grandfather. I took college level art classes in Denver, CO, and was a member of the Denver Art Students League. I loved going into the Rocky Mountains to paint.

After moving to Arizona, I have been in a few different local galleries and love painting southwest scenes, animals, and Native Americans. The sky and natural light in the southwest are much different than in other parts of the country.
